The news has poured in that the Indian Weather Bureau has issued a Red Alert warning to Tamil Nadu on 7th October. This is an only general warning. Unlike as it was done for Kerala, this Red Alert is not for a specific state.

As there are 2 low-pressure zones forming simultaneously in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the heavy rains will persist in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Chennai rains had remained light in nature since the beginning of the month of October itself. Before that, rainfall activity had remained on the backseat with the city witnessing dry weather conditions for about ten days or so.

Good rains reported in Chennai. North Chennai in particular got heavy rains with Ennore becoming the first station from Chennai city to clock 100 mm rainfall in 2018.

Rains in Tamil Nadu have begun had already been reiterated by Skymet Weather. Moreover, the state has been witnessing heavy showers as well.

The first point to answer the question of whether Red alert is true is that it is an announcement made 5 days before the expected event date.
