Chennai rains have finally taken a backseat, as the city witnessed dry weather on Thursday after three consecutive days of Monsoon showers. Further, we expect dry weather to persist over the state capital and nearby areas.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that due to the formation of a thermal convection, there are prospects of rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Chennai rains had wreaked way too much havoc over the region. In fact, the month of November has been very rainy for the city wherein the city has witnessed two episodes of rainfall in just two weeks.

The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, informed that the very strong low-pressure zone which had formed over the central-west Bay of Bengal has weakened.

The 5 lakes have 5.3 tmc of water compared to just 1.5 tmc last year. We will also get Krishna water that too has good storage. Overall we are in better position compared to last year.

The month of November began on a rainy note for Chennai. The city and adjoining coastal stations of Tamil Nadu have been witnessing rains since then. Though rains took a break in between, but a fresh spell of rain returned Chennai on November 12.
