The winds are from NW and storms are moving in from north Chennai, soon entire Chennai is expected to be covered by rains.

Since a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal signalling a revival of the monsoon over Central India, continued wet session over parts of North-West India and the West Coast, there will be sporadic rains in Tamil Nadu.

The Director of the Chennai Metro Meteorological Research Cenre, Mr. S. Balachandran has informed tat there are high prospects of a depression zone being formed in the Bay of Bengal.Mr. Balachandran shared information with press reporters today

Patchy light rains and thundershowers over the Chennai are expected during the next 24 hours. These rains are likely to intensify from August 26 onward, as a fresh low pressure area is likely to form in west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast.

Almost daily the thunderstorms are missing Chennai alone. This cannot continue like this forever. The Temp which is sizzling for past 10 days is expected to come down gradually from weekend. After a long time, a coastal station in Tamil Nadu has recorded 100 mm rainfall.

It was initially forecasted that there will be above normal rainfall during the south west monsoon,Now it is mentioned that the Southwest Monsoon will be normal this year. South West Monsoon was delayed by a week and it commenced on 8th June.

There was more than the usual rainfall in the Northeast monsoon last year. As a result, there was an increase in the groundwater table . Currently, southeast monsoon season is in progress. However, there has been no appreciable rains in any district over the last 2 weeks.
