Having Nausea - What foods we must eat & avoid!!

Have you ever felt an uncomfortable feeling in the back of your throat and uneasiness in the stomach etc?

A common digestion based issue we all would have faced in our lives is nausea.

It is true that when a person has a nausea issue then even the thought of having food would be unbearable. There are few reasons for nausea in us like bad food, motion sickness, certain medicines etc. It is necessary that we must know what to eat and what to avoid when we have this problem. This would then help us to feel better quickly. Though we might not feel like eating food when we have nausea, eating certain foods would make us feel better.

Foods to eat during nausea are

Ginger intake:

One of the important and easily available food is ginger. The root of ginger has got anti-nausea properties. It is believed that by eating ginger the bioactive compounds present in the ginger would interact with the nervous system and nausea would get better.

Plain toast intake:

When a person has nausea the he or she must eat starchy foods as these foods would be easy on the stomach. It would be superb to eat bland starch based foods just plain without any jam or butter etc.

 Bananas intake:

An easily available fruit that we can eat during nausea is banana. The potassium in bananas would compensate for the electrolytes that are lost while vomiting. Our stomach would feel calm by intake of bananas having sweet flavour and soft texture etc. Point is that bananas are easy to digest and would provide the much needed energy booster after vomiting.

Rice or plain potatoes intake:

If the stomach is feeling uneasy then it is superb to eat rice or plain potatoes having starch. It must be taken into note that these foods are easy to prepare and rich in calories etc.  The stomach would get calmed down or settled down.

Applesauce intake:

Another food we can consume during nausea is apple sauce. In addition to being easily digestible and mildly sweet in taste, applesauce intake can calm down the stomach. Digestion would get regulated.

Foods to avoid during nausea:

Avoid fried foods:

Never eat fried and greasy foods when you have a nausea problem. Reason is nausea can worsen as these foods would be hard to digest. Stomach would have more pressure when we eat fried and greasy foods and these foods would sit on the stomach for a long time. This was proved by research study also.

Avoid dairy foods:

Nausea could get worse when we eat dairy foods like milk, cheese and yoghurt etc as these foods would irritate the stomach lining. Those who are lactose intolerant must not consume dairy items as it could lead toto further issues.

Avoid spicy foods:

When a person has nausea then he or she must avoid spicy foods totally. Intake of spicy foods would irritate the stomach lining and it could lead to vomit etc. The situation could become worse.

Avoid caffeine intake:

A person could feel dehydrated by consuming caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea etc while nausea and this could make nausea worse also. So, please be careful.

Avoid acidic foods:

The stomach lining could get irritated when a person eats acidic foods like citrus fruits, tomatoes etc during nausea. Truth is that these acidic foods could produce more acid and it would make the person vomit etc. Hence, avoiding these kinds of acidic foods would be good for nausea.
