Special Deepavali Bus Services in Chennai to Facilitate Festive Travel

With Diwali approaching, lakhs of people are set to travel from Chennai to their hometowns via trains and buses. Many IT employees have already begun their journey home over the weekend, and an increase in outbound traffic is expected from tonight through Wednesday night.

To accommodate the surge in passengers, the government is operating 11,176 special buses departing from three main Chennai bus terminuses: Koyambedu, Kilambakkam, and Madhavaram. These buses will serve multiple regions, connecting residents to major destinations within Tamil Nadu and beyond.

Special Bus Services from Chennai :

- Kilambakkam Bus Station: Services to Trichy, Karur, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Sengottai, Thoothukudi, Tiruchendur, Nagercoil, Marthandam, Thiruvananthapuram, Karaikudi, Pudukottai, Dindigul, Theni, Tirupur, Pollachi, Rameswaram, Salem, Coimbatore, Ernakulam, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and other major towns via routes including Tiruvannamalai, Puducherry, Cuddalore, and Chidambaram.

- Koyambedu Bus Stand: Services to Vellore, Arani, Arakkonam, Tirupattur, Kanchipuram, Seyyar, Hosur, Bengaluru, and routes to Tirupati (via Tiruthani) and Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruvarur, and Thiruthuraipoondi via the East Coast Road.

- Madhavaram New Bus Stand: Buses to Andhra Pradesh (via Ponneri and Uthukottai), along with regular services to Trichy, Salem, Kumbakonam, and Tiruvannamalai.

City Connectivity Services:

To facilitate smooth transit to these bus terminuses, 300 municipal special buses will operate from various parts of Chennai, connecting to Kilambakkam, Koyambedu, and Madhavaram bus stations. City buses will run 24 hours a day from today until Wednesday to ease access for passengers.
