How consuming corn could benefit us?

Do you know that corn varieties could come in many other colours such as blue, orange, purple etc apart from the common yellow colour?

In Mexico and in Central America, corn was cultivated some 10000 years back is known. This corn is rich in fibres, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants etc. Truth is that the kernel of the seeds of corn plants has many nutrients and is the most consumed part by many.  Corn has many ingredients mentioned above and consuming corn would provide us with numerous health benefits.

Lowers anaemia risk:

It must be noted that corn is rich in vitamin B12, iron and folic acid etc and helps in the production of red blood cells in us. This would lower the risk of getting anaemia as corn would provide nutrients for the production of fresh red blood cells.

The presence of carbohydrates in corn would provide us energy for a longer duration of time. The reason for that is the carbohydrates present in corn would get digested at slow rates. One cup of corn yields about 29gms of carbohydrates and this would help in the proper functioning of the nervous and brain.

Helps to gain weight in a healthy way:

There are many people who are underweight or whose weight is below the normal. These people could consume corn and this would help them to gain weight in a healthy way.

Lowers blood sugar and cholesterol:

When we eat sweet corn, then our blood flow would be increased. This would lower cholesterol absorption and would regulate insulin. Consuming corn is really superb for persons with diabetes and cholesterol etc. The presence of fibres in corn would lower the cholesterol.

Helps during pregnancy:

Point is that corn is rich in folic acid and has zeaxanthin and pathogenic acid etc. These would lower the birth defects in the newborns. It must be noted that the baby would get protection from muscular degeneration etc. Constipation is one common issue for pregnant mothers and intake of corn would help them to avoid this issue.

Good for skin health:

The production of collagen would be increased by the vitamin C and lycopene present in the corn. The skin would be prevented frorom damage due to UV radiations.
