The residents who visit the newly set up Eco Park at Porur are astonished when they come to this park with their families and friends etc. It must be noted that the residents enjoy all that an accessible third space could provide and they are so eager to come here.

People at this park could relax themselves by walking, jogging, playing basketball, badminton, meditation, exercising etc. The kids coming to the park could play happily. People even take photo shoots here.

Information gathered is that Dr. Swaminathan Wetland Eco Park at Porur is a sponge park with 600m boardwalk, pollinator garden, basketball court, seating areas and landscaped channels etc. Developed by CMDA and sponge collaboration, this Eco Park present on 16.6 acres of land (besides Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Porur) has been nothing short of spectacular.

The function of a sponge park would be to absorb, store and purify rainwater just similar to what wetlands would do. China based landscape architect Mr. Kongjian Yu was the man behind sponge cities. Normally, there would be reliance on gutters and drains to drain out rainwater from urban areas. It is important to note that sponge cities would focus on absorbing water through green roofs, walls, glass verges and rain gardens that would capture and release water gradually etc.
