Those who had Covid-19 infection previously and got cured from that must not feel overconfident and think their issues are over!!

Truth is that it is not yet over for the Covid- 19 recovered patients. In Chennai, now Covid care units in the hospitals are now visited by many even as the number of Covid-19 cases has reduced. Many who come to these units complain of breathlessness, fatigue, chest pain plus other allied issues etc after the second Coronavirus infection wave. This has now caught the attention.

There are many who got to the Covid care units at the hospitals having issues like complaining about sporadic vascular issues, increased blood sugar levels, clots in the limbs or in other parts of the body etc.

According to Dr. Dhavapalani, emergency head at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai the above said health issues are common in those with co-morbid conditions and in immune-compromised conditions. Truth is that most patients report at post Covid care centres at a later stage of complications after getting recovered from Coronavirus infection. In the second infection wave, the case load has been higher than in the first infection wave.

It was later pointed out by Dr. Theranirajan, Dean of RGGGH, Chennai, that patients with comorbidities must check their blood sugar levels and must follow up after 28 days. He added that while in the first wave there were many cases of insomnia, fear of death etc but in the second wave there were more vascular problems reported. The doctors were of the view that despite Covid-19 follow- ups clinics at all the hospitals the patients often come with advanced complications. The shocking piece of information is that the patients could lose their organ or limb due to vascular issues due to advanced complications. It is learnt that the cardiac issues after Covid-19 recovery are also common and those waiting for cardiac procedures must be careful.

Chief cardiologist of Promed Hospitals, Dr Arun Kalyanasundaram spoke about how complications would develop in the body over time after recovery. He mentioned that the blockage of arteries causing vascular issues must be treated immediately to prevent deaths post Covid-19 recovery.
