Tamil Nadu Government Revises Income Limit for Free Housing Land Patta Eligibility!
In a major move aimed at benefiting a wider section of society, the Tamil Nadu government has increased the income ceiling for eligibility to receive free housing land patta from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh per year.
The new structure for allotment of additional land based on income levels is as follows:
For families earning less than ₹5 lakh annually:
- They can get an additional 1 cent of land by paying 25% of its value.
For families with an income between ₹5 lakh and ₹12 lakh annually:
- They can get an additional 2 cents of land by paying 50% of the value.
- For 1 cent of additional land, they must pay 100% of the value.
For families earning more than ₹12 lakh annually:
- They can get an additional 3 cents of land by paying 100% of the value.
This step is expected to make housing more accessible to the middle class and economically weaker sections, and it highlights the government`s ongoing efforts to promote social welfare and inclusive growth.
