NO red alert in Chennai city clarifies Chennai Corporation

The important piece of information that has come out is Chennai Corporation has not issued any red alert in any area belonging to Chennai.

The release from the Chennai Corporation clearly mentioned the residents belonging to the areas declared as contaminant zones not to panic. It must be noted that on Sunday, Chennai Corporation commissioner made many heads turn when he released the list of places in Chennai affected with Corona virus positive cases. There were some misleading reports about such localities from the media and it was later revealed by the corporation that the contaminant zones were created for the sake of monitoring only.

For the sake of those who are in home quarantine in various places in Chennai city, minister of fisheries, Mr. D. Jayakumar inaugurated helpline 044-46122300. Information is more than 20,000 people are in home quarantine in Chennai now. It is important to mention that new facility has been created in Amma Maaligai for the purpose of giving counselling for those in home quarantine.

It is now said that more than 23 medical professionals would answer the calls of the residents about home quarantine, clear doubts about Corona virus infection, monitor the health condition and also check the availability food and water at homes. For those residents on home quarantine, the data collected would be useful. 

To disinfect major stretches in Chennai, GCC had conducted a trial run with a vehicle. It was pointed out by an official of Chennai Corporation that lysol would be used to disinfect the stretches and trial run of one vehicle was started.
