If you have thought that everything has become normal now and Covid-19 infection pandemic has ended totally then you are mistaken!!

Cases of Coronavirus infection are still getting reported in Chennai city. This doesn’t seem to bother many now and people have become very casual. On Sunday, at T. Nagar and Pondy Bazaar, people thronged the shops for shopping for the upcoming deepavali festival. It is shocking to mention that most of the people did not wear facemasks and not main physical distance etc. Usman Road, Pondy Bazaar and adjoining places had heavy traffic congestion. People gathered to buy clothes and other goods due to the long holiday for the festival.

It was mentioned by a senior police officer that a special bandobast scheme for the festival and enough police personnel have been deployed to keep an eye on the shopping areas. He added that separate teams were there to impose fines or penalties on those who do not wear facemasks. For enforcing facemask wearing in T. Nagar alone, there are 17 zonal enforcement teams. Truth is that the heavy crowds witnessed yesterday were due to the long holidays for Navarathri pooja.

It must be noted that the police have the list of criminals involved in snatching mobile phones and chains etc and they have been keeping an eye on the shopper’s safety.

Information is that the police personnel have been provided with the advanced facial recognition application to expedite the process of checking criminal antecedents. In Marina Beach there was also a huge crowd yesterday inspite of the authorities banning entry to the beach.
