Chennai: Aiming to transform the city’s daily commute, a group of tech enthusiasts from St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology and IIT Madras has launched two innovative apps, QPo Driver and QPo Shareride. These apps bring affordable, reliable share auto services directly to daily commuters, addressing the high demand for accessible urban transportation.
A New Era in City Commuting
Designed with Chennai`s congested roads in mind, QPo’s solution is tailored for IT professionals, college students, and other frequent commuters. Through tech-enabled share auto services, QPo connects drivers with riders, ensuring fewer delays and streamlined travel times. The two apps, QPo Driver and QPo Shareride, serve different functions to make commutes both efficient and convenient for users.
Optimized for Drivers: QPo Driver App
The QPo Driver app helps drivers make the most of their routes by identifying high-demand areas and efficient pickup spots. Using live GPS tracking, drivers can find waiting passengers up to five stops ahead, helping them bypass low-demand areas and increase earnings. The app’s GPS tracking also allows riders to follow the share auto’s location in real time, similar to popular bus-tracking services, enhancing the appeal for those seeking dependable alternatives to crowded public transport.
"Our goal was to make the daily commute more reliable and easier to navigate," says Amal Leon, co-founder and Computer Science graduate. "We wanted to address the frustrations of waiting for share autos without knowing their arrival times."
Designed for Riders: QPo Shareride App
For commuters, the QPo Shareride app offers a user-friendly interface to locate nearby share autos, set pickup and drop-off points, and track rides in real time. This feature eliminates the uncertainty of waiting, making it a valuable tool for frequent riders who depend on share autos for short trips. The app also allows riders to alert drivers of their status, making commutes more predictable and timely.
"The idea came from the unpredictability around share auto arrivals," adds co-founder Jaishankar JK. "With QPo, riders can finally track autos and save time, avoiding long waits and improving their daily commute experience."
