Greater Chennai Traffic Police Announce Traffic Diversions Near Ganesapuram Subway for Flyover Construction

To facilitate the construction of a new flyover, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) have announced temporary traffic diversions near the Ganesapuram subway in Vyasarpadi. The trial diversions are set to begin on Wednesday and will last for one week, as per an official statement.

During this period, the Stephenson Road Junction-Ganesapuram Subway will be closed to all traffic. Vehicles normally traveling from Melpatti Ponnappan Street towards Pulianthope via Stephenson Road will need to take alternative routes. These vehicles will be rerouted along Stephenson Lane Road - AA Road - Perambur High Road - Perambur flyover - Jamalia Road - Cooks Road junction - Stephenson Road - Chengai Sivan bridge - Dr. Ambedkar College Road to reach Pulianthope.

Additionally, vehicles heading towards Vyasarpadi and Kodungaiyur via the Ganesapuram subway will be redirected along Pulianthope High Road – Gandhi Roundtana – Basin Bridge – Vyasarpadi New Bridge – Market – Muthu Street – Moorthingar Street and then turning right onto Erukanchery Road to reach their destinations.

The GCTP urges commuters to plan accordingly and follow the signs and directions of traffic officers stationed throughout the area. The diversions are being implemented to minimize inconvenience while ensuring the safe and efficient construction of the new flyover.
