The Tamil Nadu government has published the list of public holidays for 2025. All government offices, public sector undertakings, corporations, and boards under its control will remain closed on these days. In addition, all Saturdays and Sundays have been declared public holidays.
In January, a significant highlight is the Pongal festival, for which three days of holidays have been confirmed:
- January 14 - Tue (Thai Pongal)
- January 15 - Wed (Thiruvalluvar Day)
- January 16 - Thu (Uzhavar Thirunal)
With Bhogi (January 13) likely to be declared a holiday, and January 11 and 12 being weekend holidays, there is a possibility of an extended nine-day break if January 17 (Friday) is also announced as a holiday.
The alignment of festivals and weekends is set to offer a longer break, much to the joy of students, employees, and families across the state.
