Bengaluru-Chennai Train Travel Times Reduced

Travel times on the Bengaluru-Chennai route will see significant reductions as train speeds increase to 130 km/h. The Vande Bharat Express will save 25 minutes, while the Shatabdi Express will cut at least 20 minutes from its journey.

The South Western Railway (SWR) successfully conducted high-speed trials on the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai section, raising the speed limit from 110 km/h to 130 km/h. This upgrade allows the entire 360-km Bengaluru-Chennai corridor to support faster train operations.

The improvements benefit two Vande Bharat and two Shatabdi Express trains daily, enhancing connectivity across this high-density economic corridor. Future upgrades for speeds beyond 130 km/h will involve bridge strengthening, fencing, level-crossing removal, and track realignment, according to SWR officials.
