In a grand celebration of International Women’s Day, Rotary District 3234 Women Empowerment Team and Inner Wheel District 323 are set to host a unique and inspiring event at YMCA, Nandanam. The event, scheduled for Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM, will feature a one-of-a-kind saree walkathon aimed at promoting awareness on nutrition and fitness among women.

Bringing together around 1000 women participants, the event will highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle while embracing traditional attire. The attendees will engage in a saree Zumba session, an insightful talk by a renowned nutritionist, an energetic live band performance, a vibrant flash mob, and the main highlight—the saree walkathon.

Beyond fitness, the event will focus on women empowerment and supporting underprivileged female athletes. In a remarkable gesture, visually challenged women from the cricket team will be provided with essential sports gear, and financially challenged state-level girl athletes will receive financial aid to pursue their sports careers.

A special recognition will be given to Suganthi B, a dedicated housewife-turned-marathoner, who has completed over 100 marathons and secured numerous accolades. She will be honored with the prestigious “Sports Achiever” Award for her incredible journey in athletics.

The event will be graced by distinguished guests, including Rotary District 3234 Governor NS Saravanan and his spouse Bharathi Saravanan, Rotary District 3234 Women Empowerment Chairperson Kamala Selvam, Inner Wheel District 323 office bearers Anandhi Sabesan and Sukanya Sriram, along with several eminent personalities from the Rotary and Inner Wheel fraternity.

This inspiring initiative underscores the commitment of Rotary and Inner Wheel Districts towards women`s empowerment, health, and fitness, making a significant impact on the community while celebrating the strength and resilience of women.
