To enhance cargo services, Southern Railway has launched the Parcel Cargo Express Train (PCET), flagged off by Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Vishwanath Eerya. The train will operate between Royapuram, Chennai, and Patel Nagar, New Delhi, covering 2,195 km.
This dedicated cargo service aims to boost trade and logistics, offering a faster and cost-effective transportation solution. The six-year contract has been awarded to M/s Rail Transport Corporation of India, generating an estimated ₹208 crore in revenue. The train will operate twice a week (Wednesday & Sunday), initially carrying 353 tonnes per trip, increasing to 468 tonnes later in the contract.
The PCET initiative is expected to strengthen rail-based logistics and regional commerce, improving connectivity between Southern and Northern India.
