Even though the idea of installing corrals for garbage gatherings helps in wrapping up overflowing garbage from the eyeball of the populace, adversely it brings in various modes of nuisances.
After receiving many grievances from the public regarding the overflowing
garbage bins surrounding the residential areas, the Chennai Corporation put its
effort by placing enclosures aided with the ridged sheets.
These 20 feet wide enclosures, spread out on the footpaths in several
regions of the city, and hence suddenly this matter comes under public
criticism as it barricades the pedestrian movement.
Residents ought to walk for few distances to chuck their garbage in the
corrals and for their sluggish behavior; many started placing their garbage in
plastic bags along wayside.
The civic body should have been accomplished this idea of enclosures only on a pilot basis in few places and extend the model on the victory of the project, said R. Govindaraj, secretary, of Exnora International.
He also added that, even though people raised many complaints to the Corporation officials, but till now they didn’t take up any measuring steps to rectify the problem.
As a replacement of gathering the garbage bins in corrals, appending more garbage collective bins on the lanes could have cracked the issue of brimming of garbage, said a senior official of the Corporation.
