11,270 special buses for Pongal

Special buses are to be functional to facilitate commuters owing to Pongal festival. A large population will head on to their hometowns to celebrate the Thai Thirunaal and hence extra bus services are introduced.
 
Here are over 11,270 special buses available for three days from Chennai. Likewise, these special buses will be functional also on 15th, 16th and 17th January in order to ease travelling back to Chennai after Pongal celebrations.
 
As a precautionary move to traffic congestion, these buses will be functional from 5 different bus stops. Those who have pre-booked their tickets can reach the respective bus terminus. There are additional municipal buses as well.
 
Ticket booking counters for these additional buses got opened yesterday. There are 26 new counters at Koyambedu bus terminus, 2 counters at Tambaram Sanatorium, and 1 counter in Poonamallee bus terminus. More than 500 passengers had booked tickets in these special counters on the opening day, yesterday. In this, nearly 1750 passengers are commuting from Chennai city.
 
95,000 people have made advance bookings to travel on 11th, 12th and 13th January. There are more than 63,000 people from Chennai belonging to this humongous list.
