In Chennai city, Anna Salai is always crowded and has got heavy traffic congestion. Motorists often find it very difficult to commute across the one-ways of this Anna Salai and they suffer from lack of adequate space to move. It is now said that the motorists would have to wait for another 2 months till the month of May. The good news is 2- way traffic would be restored between LIC and Thousand Lights at the heart of arterial road by middle of May month.

It was pointed out by some officials of CMRL that the pending work at LIC and Thousand lights metro stations would be over by the end of April. Then the roads would be handed to the Chennai city police department for restoring earlier traffic patterns.

An official belonging to CMRL spoke about how the construction of 2 entry/exit points at LIC and Thousand Lights metro stations is still going on. The above mentioned work would be completed by the end of April and by the middle of the month of May, 2-way traffic could be restored once again here and it would be superb for the people.

On 10th February 2019, LIC and Thousand Lights were part of 10 km stretch from Washermanpet and AG-DMS that was opened for the sake of the public. By this launch the 45 km stretch of phase-1 was completed. One important point is both LIC and Thousand Lights metro stations were opened with only 2 entry/exit points on either side. The work to construct 2 more entry/exit points in these metro stations continued.

Excavating soil to build the entrances to the 2 metro stations was done by the workers and the commuters walked more distances to reach the other entry points. Motorists did not feel comfortable on the stretch between LIC and Thousand Lights because of very little space that was available for the one way traffic. To complete the pending work, the contractors building the stations needed time till the month of March and this has been confirmed by an official belonging to the metro rail.

The entry points would not be opened for the public unless the contractor completes the pending work also to the smallest detail. The official hinted that metro rail department do not want to open an incomplete passage and let commuters inside. As per CMRL officials it is now clear that after the completion of entry points the road on the stretch would be re-laid.
