Resilience strategy for the Chennai city launched by the corporation now

The Chennai Corporation has been involved in many superb works in the recent times for the sake of the residents of Chennai. The latest news is corporation of Chennai has launched a resilient strategy in partnership with 100 resilient cities pioneered by the Rock Feller Foundation. Information is by this strategy, the Chennai city’s capacity to recover from floods and drought is set to be strengthened.

Mr. G. Prakash, the corporation commissioner of Chennai, caught the attention of many at the Ripon Buildings n Thursday. He unveiled the resilience strategy, ’Resilient Chennai’ and spoke about how the strategy would facilitate more investments in projects that help residents to recover from any calamity. He added that new civic projects would protect the greenery and enlarge our water resources.

It is important to note that the resilient strategy was developed in consultation with the stakeholders from the private and public sector, academics and local communities over a 2 year period of time. The Chennai city’s preparedness to respond and re-adjust to the current and future stocks and stresses that include flood, drought and unplanned urbanization etc would be strengthened.

It was later mentioned by chief resilience officer, Mr. Krishna Mohan Ramachandran that the strategy envisions the city that revives the deep historical relation with water. He added that the strategy also preserves our water bodies as an integral part of urban fabric.

He explained about how the strategy aims to advance a vision for Chennai city that embraces its vulnerable communities and treats them as stake holders in resilience building. Point to be noted is the strategy foresees a city where a healthy engagement between and within stakeholder groups results in improved outcomes and greater impact. He finally spoke about how the development banks in many countries were expected to fund more civic projects that seek to improve city’s resilience in the times of floods, drought etc
