It is known that Anna Salai in the Chennai City is highly congested place. It has been 7 years since 2- way traffic system has been present on the 2 km stretch between LIC and Thousand Lights in the Anna Salai. The stretch was made one way for the sake of metro rail construction work is known.

The news that has come out is from Saturday, 3rd August 2019, 2-way traffic system would start once again on the above mentioned stretch. To reach DMS, the commuters from now on need not take the roundabout route General Patters Road-Express Avenue- Whites Road.

It is revealed that this restoration of 2-way traffic system would reduce the traffic congestion on the General Patters Road in the evening time because people bound for Triplicane and Royapettah would only take that road. Information is people bound for Gemini would have a direct through fare on the Anna Salai.

It is superb to mention that LIC staffs could reach their offices easily instead of going in the roundabout route. On 15th of February 2019, Washermanpet and AG-DMS metro rail route was inaugurated and LIC as well as Thousand Lights metro rail stations are part of this route.

In the month of June, CMRL decided to hand over the stretch back to the traffic police is known.  There was some delay in the communication process between the 2 departments and this resulted in the postponement of the hand over process. Information collected is traffic restorations took place in Mayor Sundarrao Road and Nandanam’s North Boag Road.
