After 55 days, fresh COVID cases have come down below 200 in Chennai!!

It has taken 55 long days for the fresh or daily Coronavirus cases to go below 200. Point is that 28th of December was the last time the daily or fresh cases in Chennai were below 200. Yesterday, the total number of Covid-19 cases reported across TN was 788. Chennai district reported as many as 191 fresh Coronavirus cases yesterday. On Sunday, as many as 949 fresh cases were reported in TN.
It must not be forgotten that by the end of the fourth week in December 2021, the fresh cases went up and that was mainly due to the Coronavirus variant Omicron virus. There were 8987 fresh cases on 16th of January 2022 in Chennai alone. This made many worry at that time. The government took several steps to bring the infection under control.
Dr. T.S. Selvavinayagam, Director of Public Health, pointed out that the reduction in the fresh cases was as quick as the rise in the cases. The districts of Coimbatore and Chengalpet reported 115 and 86 new cases respectively. Remaining districts had fewer than 50 cases and 20 districts had fewer than 10 cases each. There are 14033 active Covid-19 cases and of those 11% are in the hospitals.
