Students chewing nails and restlessly flipping through textbook pages were common scenes at many exam centres in Tamil Nadu yesterday.
It has been 2 years since the students appeared for board examinations in Tamil Nadu. The Coronavirus pandemic has been responsible for non conduction of the board exams is known to us. Yesterday, the class 12 students appeared for theory board exams across many exam centres in TN. Many students were highly tense and anxious because of the board examinations.
The students outside the exam centres were biting their nails and flipped through the pages of their textbooks in tension. The students were appearing for the board exams for the very first time in their lives. It was brought out by a class12 student that board exams created huge fear amongst students. He added that he was unable to express in words about how he felt regarding writing board exams for the first time.
According to a student belonging to Egmore based Presidency Girls Higher secondary school it was clear that the physical classes took place for just 3 months. She added that she was not confident of facing board examinations. Truth is that though the syllabus was covered the revision tests were not done properly. What has brought huge happiness to the students was that the language paper Tamil was very easy.
A student expressed confidence and spoke about how he would be able to write the other examinations also very well after doing well in the language paper. Across various exam centres in TN a total of 837311 students wrote board exams yesterday. There are a total of 3119 exam centres across TN and Puducherry. It was later mentioned by the chief educational officer of Chennai Mr. S. Mars that the first day of board exams went smoothly and no cases of malpractices were reported.
