A New Light House to come up near Chennai??

To promote eco-tourism activities at the popular Pulicat Lake, The Thiruvallur district administration is trying several ways now. There would be safe boating activities plus heritage walks, tourist centres around the monuments and places of worship. It must be noted that there would also be day time trips to the nearby islands.
Boating activities would help the fishermen to get a steady income and due to that reason it has been a long time demand from them. It was later explained by an officer that boating would take place in safe waters and not near the estuary.
The currents would be stronger near the estuary. He mentioned that the forest department has also joined hands with them. There were few accidents in the past at this Pulicat Lake when the tourists wanted to go beyond the Estuary.
It must be noted that the area around the lake has Dutch cemetery, the remnants of fort, church, mosque, temples etc. These would attract many tourists. Mr. Alby John Verghese, the district collector explained that Pulicat Lake has got potential for tourism and hence they were trying to utilize the lake to the maximum.
A resident brought out that several proposals have been made till now. He later added that the central government must look at the villages around the lake as habitations. Truth is that many people here have been trying hard to make a living and they have been struggling.
It is superb to mention that in the future a light house might come at Pulicat Lake as the Lighthouse Department has started its work on this.
