On Monday, the chief minister of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated a park along the banks of Buckingham Canal on the Rajiv Gandhi Salai near the Tidel Park in Chennai. The park was built to commemorate the 75th year of Independence and is home for about 40000 saplings plus children`s playing area. Named as India Suthandira Thina Amutha Peruvizha Poonga on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, it has got a Miyawaki forest and a bicycle track, 4m wide pathway, an open air theatre and kids play area etc.
Along the stretch from Kasturba Nagar metro station and Thiruvanmiyur metro station, 40000 saplings have been planted. In the future, GCC would be organising several events here and yesterday the CM of TN took time off his busy schedule and interacted with the kids at the park.
Various important personalities who made their presence felt yesterday were Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, GCC Commissioner, Mr. KN. Nehru, municipal administration minister etc.
