Getting calls daily from unknown numbers from many countries, then you are not alone!!
It is known that phishing mails, messages and calls have been creating issues for many and the new entrant to this is repeated calls from unknown numbers in the instant messaging app WhatsApp. These blank calls are causing huge worries now for the Chennai residents and many have taken to social networking sites to express their concern and for getting a solution.
It is learnt that the calls were usually from numbers with ISD codes +84( from Vietnam), +2129 from Morocco), +62 (from Indonesia) and +223) from Mali) etc.
It was brought to light by a resident from Kodambakkam in Chennai that he gets 3 to 4 missed calls everyday from the unknown numbers in his WhatsApp. He added that they were just blank calls with no response from the other side. Point is that even the police dept has been struggling to find out the real reason behind these blank call issues.
Many residents have mentioned in their social media pages about how they have been forced to keep their mobile phones in the silent mode due to these calls from unknown numbers from several countries. It is worthy to note that in other states the people have been warned about such calls from the unknown numbers and have been asked to block the unknown numbers.
Information is that WhatsApp has been using spam detection technology to identify the spam accounts and initiate action against them.
