Many devotees go to the Kamakshi Amman Temple at Mangadu near Poonamalle in Chennai to get darshan of the goddess. It must be taken into account that devotees not only come from various parts of Tn but also from the neighbouring states like Karnataka, AP, Kerala etc. It is normal to see many devotees offer their nerthi kadan at the hundial of this famous temple after their wishes get fulfilled.
Yesterday, the hundial of this temple was opened by the temple authorities and the hundial collections were counted. This counting work took place from morning till evening. It was brought to light that the hundial collections consisted of cash amount of Rs 50,98602 plus 415 gms of gold and 756 gms of silver etc. Important persons who were present at the time of hundial collections counting were Temple Dharmakartha Manali Srinivasan, Temple deputy commissioner Gavenitha etc.
