A foundation stone was laid by the minister for youth affairs and sports development Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin yesterday to build a sports complex in R.K. Nagar in north Chennai. This upcoming sports complex would provide better training to sportspersons who would win medals for India and would make TN proud. This sports complex construction would be completed in about a year.
The minister spoke about how the residents and sportspersons have been requested to cooperate with the Chennai Corporation for better maintenance of the sports complex.
About the sports complex;
It would be constructed on 3.735 acres of land and it would have facilities for several sports like cricket, basketball, volleyball, boxing etc. There would also be training provided for the track and field events here in the future. It is learnt that separate facilities would be built for women and children also.
An amount of Rs 10 cr would be spent to construct this sports complex in Korukkupet in the ward 1 in Tondiarpet zone of GCC. Point is that the sports complex would be constructed in Sunnambu kalvai Road. Others important persons who made their presence felt here yesterday were GCC Commissioner Mr. J. Radhakrishnan, Chennai Mayor R. Priya and CMDA minister Mr. P.K. Sekar Babu etc.
