CCTV Cameras Enhance Security at Perungudi and Taramani MRTS Stations

CCTV cameras will be installed at Perungudi and Taramani MRTS stations by the end of this month to enhance security and prevent crimes. Concerns about safety, especially for women commuters, have prompted the Southern Railway`s Chennai division to address issues like poor lighting. Under the Nirbhaya fund, 26 railway stations, including Perungudi and Taramani, will see the installation of over 150 CCTV cameras. With an allocation of around ₹10 crore, the Southern Railway aims to improve safety measures, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
