The GCC Commissioner Mr. J. Kumaragurubaran has caught the attention now!!
On Friday, he urged the fish vendors to sell fish only at the newly constructed modern fish market on the Marin Loop Road near Pattinapakkam in Chennai. A special team of GCC officials and police personnel would be monitoring this continuously. Soon, a police outpost would also be established here.
It must be recalled that after an order from HC of Madras regarding the removal of encroachments on the road, a modern fish market was constructed on the Loop Road in Marina. An amount of Rs 14cr was spent on this and it was inaugurated by the CM of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin on 12th August.
Various superb facilities present in the fish market are drinking war, electricity, toilets, sewage treatment plants plus parking lots for two wheelers and four wheelers etc. Point is that the newly built fish market has as many as 360 stalls. The GCC recently allocated stalls to vendors from Nochikuppam and Dooming kuppam etc. It must be noted that there are few hawkers who continue to sell fishes along the roadside. From today onwards, the fish vendors could sell fish only at the modern fish market according to an order from HC or else action would be taken.
The GCC Commissioner concluded that the residents must buy fishes only from the fish market on the Loop Road. The vehicles must be parked only at the designated areas by both vendors and the public.
