Online System Speeds Up Chennai Building Approvals

The Online Building Planning Permission System (OBPPS) introduced by CMDA has significantly reduced approval times for real estate projects in Chennai. The average processing time for planning permissions has dropped from 180 days (pre-2021) to just 64 days in 2024.
Since its launch in May 2022, OBPPS has streamlined approvals by integrating 19 departments for faster No-Objection Certificates (NOCs). The number of permissions issued has increased by 45%, boosting the city’s real estate sector.
Meanwhile, CREDAI reports Chennai’s residential market remains strong, with property prices rising by 6.5% due to high demand and lower unsold inventory.
