Police security on New Year Day eve

Police have beefed up the security in Chennai on occasion of New Year’s Eve. They have also imposed several restrictions.
 
15,000 police personnel will be on duty on New Year`s Eve and police have asked all establishments having New Year events to install CCTV cameras on their premises.
 
Police personnel have advised all hotels and clubs to check vehicles thoroughly before letting them in. Installing CCTV cameras has been made mandatory at entrances and a record of vehicles entering the premises should be maintained.
 
Police have advised hotel managements to avoid parking cars on roads. Police will take action against those selling alcohol after 1am. They said no dais should be erected over swimming pools, and temporary stages or structures needed proper certification from the authorities concerned. The entry and exit points to swimming pools as well as the entire pool should be cordoned off.
 
Bursting of crackers has been prohibited in crowded areas and people have been advised against getting into boats or setting out to sea. Police said harassment of women, speeding and drunken driving will be severely dealt with.
