Soon the city corporation will replaced broken and damaged bins on arterial roads and increased number of workers and compactors will be deployed for clearing garbage off the streets. This is done for a reason which is to impress delegates from across the world who will arrive at the city for the Global Investors Meet (GIM). Between now and 9th September, owing to the 2-day GIM in Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, about 2000 new garbage to likely to be put up on stretches including Santhome High Road, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Anna Salai, etc.
Saying about this, one of the city corporation officials told the corporation has requested Ramky Enviro Limited to replace all the damaged bins found on Adyar, Kodambakkam and Teynampet zones before GIM. He also added that damaged bins in the rest of the areas will also be changed. More number of employees and compactors will be deployed for this process. The condition of these bins should not create a bad impression on the delegates. There are increasing complaint about lack of bins. With the new bins, spillover can be avoided on roads which attracts mosquitoes and stray dogs.
