At Kadambari gallery, DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum at Muttukadu in Chennai, the display of tempera & water colour works of Mr. Yusuf and Mr. Balachander respectively has stolen many hearts. Here, all the heritage monuments that are present in Chennai have been placed side by side in a single hall.
It was mentioned by Mr. Yusuf that he wanted to show his passion for Chennai and its heritage and the exhibition has showcased his passion. He spoke about the fact that many residents do not know about the real value of Chennai and various hidden treasures in Chennai. Mr. Yiusuf is an entrepreneur in the fabric industry and Chennai is his adopted home now.
The story of Mr. Balachandran is really amazing. This core Chennaite roots in the Chennai city goes back to 200 to 250 years. It is true that he wanted to make the people coming to Chennai know about what makes Chennai. Through Chennai Weekend Artists Group, both met each other.
It must be taken into account that Mr. Yusuf was originally a wildlife artist and Mr. Balachandran was watercolourist. Truth is that their joint conversations have led to the idea of a project showcasing the important landmarks of Chennai. The Parsi Fire Temple at Royapuram in north Chennai was one of the important works of Mr. Yusuf. The surprising piece of information is that Mr. Yusuf has found this temple just recently only. The paintings of Mr. Balachandran were done at locations like Loyola College, Santhome etc in Chennai. He is an UX designer and balances art with his job superbly.
At the museum, there were paintings that included some historical landmarks in Chennai like Chennai Palace, Amir Mahal, Higginbothams, C. S. I School for Hearing Impaired plus temples, churches and mosques etc. The QR code present in each painting would direct the viewer to the location on Google Maps.
