The 3 Ps Perungalathur, Pallavaram and Peerkankaranai in south Chennai have been inundated due to the heavy rains that poured on Sunday and on Monday morning.

It was brought out by a resident from Peerkankaranai that he had to convince his superior officers  regarding the inundation in his locality for working from home. He spoke about how it was highly impossible to walk through the water around his house as it was not stagnant water but flowing water from the near Irumbuliyur lake. Many residents fear getting knocked down by the flowing water here. He concluded that in other places belonging to Chennai there was not much water stagnation and hence many did not believe him when he told them about the water present around his house.

On Monday, the residents of SSM Nagar belonging to New Perungalathur and Pallavaram found it very difficult as they had to wade through knee high deep water in their places. The traffic was badly affected here. It is learnt that in SSM Nagar a low lying area many commuters including school kids etc waded through the water present on the streets to reach their houses.

Another resident from Pallavaram spoke about how for the last 3 days the situation in the locality was bad and how water from Thirutani Nagar gets collected in the Narmada street in Pallavaram.

The SWD was built in 13 areas and those areas did not have any water logging. This was mentioned by some officials from the Tambaram Corporation. He assured that after a new batch of drains gets constructed here then there would be no water stagnation. For draining out the stagnated water , the corporation has deployed 85 pumps and 17 earthmovers etc. It must be noted that the 135 trees that have fallen down here have been cleared immediately by the corporation.
