The Chennai city police were very busy yesterday and they held meetings with the representatives of star hotels, clubs and bars etc. They have insisted these representatives regarding safety protocols and have asked them to close down the partying etc within the deadline. It must be noted that the Chennai city police had earlier decided to restrict the celebrations for the New Year  in public places till 1am in the morning.

The representatives have been instructed by the police to limit the number of guests  to 80percent of the capacity. Instructions have been given regarding the security of the swimming pools.

No harassment allowed on the women guests coming to the parties  and arrangements have been made to have enough staff in place to monitor this. For that , the CCTV cameras must be in place and must be functioning properly. Cab services must be arranged for the drunk patrons and they must not be allowed to take their own vehicles to go back to their residences

For the New Year celebrations to go smoothly and without issues,16000 police personnel would be deployed and arrangements have been made by the Greater Chennai police. There would be a total of 368 vehicle inspection points that would be set up across Chennai city and 30 patrol vehicles with cameras fitted in them would be used . This was according to Chennai police commissioner Mr. Shankar Jaiwal.

At the beaches in the city, special teams would be monitoring the public and incidents like drowning would be prevented by them. After 9pm that night, the vehicles would not be allowed on the Kamarajar Salai. The public would not be allowed to bathe in the sea water and there would be police booths for help near the beaches. There would be similar booths in Santhome Road, Kamarajar Road and at Besant Nagar etc.
