In the future, if you go to the JJ Nagar West bus stand in Mogappair, then don`t be surprised if you come across bus parking bays, seating areas for passengers with shelters, LED lightings etc!!
The news that has come out now is that MTC has begun renovating the JJ Nagar west bus stand in Chennai after nearly 2 decades. This has caught the attention of many now.
From this important bus stand nearly 35 route buses are operated every day. The sad part is that this bus stand does not have the basic amenities like seating , toilets and lighting etc. The absence of proper flooring here often leads to clouds of dust whenever buses enter the bus stand.
It must be noted that MTC would be renovating this bus stand by constructing additional parking bays plus seating areas for the passengers with shelters and installing LED lighting etc. There would also be a time office to keep an eye on the bus operations.
Installation of schedule boards plus PAS or public announcement system to inform about the arrival and departure timings of the MTC buses etc would be done. Many people come to Chennai from other places and they find it difficult regarding the Chennai routes. It is now said that the renovation here would help these people as they would be able to get details easily.
A resident from Mogappair expressed her thoughts and spoke about how lack of parking at the bus stand has been creating issues for the public. As a result, many prefer trains as they could leave their vehicles at the stations. She concluded that by renovating the bus stand with the latest facilities only MTC would be able to bring back the people. Information is that about 170 MTC buses would be benefited after renovation works here. This was as per a MTC official.
