There must be a law banning smoking in the public places in Chennai and it must be implemented strictly. This was mentioned by PMK Leader Dr. Anbumani Ramdoss.
Now, there has been an increase in smoking in and around schools in Chennai. As a result of this, the school going students are being exposed to cigarette smoke and its serious side effects. This was mentioned in a survey that was carried out. This is a huge cause for concern now.
In as many as in 20 locations in Chennai, the field survey was carried out. It has been found out by the survey that atleast in 3 places within 500m surrounding the schools many people smoke. The school students are fragile and the smoke they inhale or second hand smoke could lead to several issues like lung cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer etc.
For the crimes that are committed by others, the innocent school children must not be punished. It is now said that the non-implementation of law banning smoking at the public places in Chennai has led to several issues. The law that was introduced on Mahatma Gandhi`s birthday must be strictly implemented from atleast today on his death day, 30th January to protect the children.
