Improved basic facilities in the bus stands in Chennai!!
The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority or CMDA, MTC or Metropolitan Transport Corporation and GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation would soon be working for the upliftment of the facilities at several bus stands in the city. In the future, many bus stands including the famous CMBT or Chennai Metropolitan Bus Terminus would have a new look.
Just a few days back a meeting was held by the chief secretary of TN Mr. V. Irai Anbhu. In that meeting only, the decision to improve the basic facilities at several bus stands in Chennai was taken. The chief secretary wanted the bus terminus to be maintained in an hygienic manner and wanted to resolve water logging problems especially in the monsoon season . It was explained by him that a committee would be formed soon with the participation of officers to coordinate the works.
The committee would be responsible for the seating arrangements, toilets maintenance plus other facilities etc. It must be noted that during monsoon season the bus stands in chennai get water logged making the passengers wait on the roadsides for the buses.
It was pointed out by a regular MTC commuter that most of the bus depots get inundated due to heavy rains. He wanted the pumps to be used to remove the water.
Point to be noted is that MTC maintains nearly 30 bus stands in Chennai and GCC maintains one bus stand located at Broadway. The Koyambedu CMBT and Madhavaram bus stand are maintained by the CMDA.
