Latest important details about the GCCs new roads construction activity in Chennai!!

While going across the Chennai city, the residents would be able to come across the GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation authorities being very busy now in road construction activities. The NE monsoon in 2022 has damaged many roads across Chennai is known. The road relaying would be given top priority and this was according to GCC.

The tar road construction of as manya s 670 roads of  length of 112.45km in Chennai have been taken up by the GCC. This would be carried out under TURIF or Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Fund.

It is noteworthy that the surface of the damaged roads would be removed and new tar roads of good quality would be laid. This was mentioned by a press release from the Chennai Corporation.

The release also stated that concrete roads would be laid using the funds of Rs 3.65 crore from TURIF. The concrete roads of 3.52km in length would be laid in localities like Adyar, Perungudi, Alandur, Kodambakkm, Tondiarpet, Madhavarama and Manali etc.

In all the 15 GCC zones, 300 tar roads of length of 51.367km are under construction at an estimated cost of Rs 29.71 crores. In 153 packages, the work would be carried out. At a cost of Rs 37.37 lakhs, in localities like Thiruvanmiyur, Perungudi and Madhavaram etc, road lighting, signage and safety works are being carried out now.  On Saturday, some of the roads that included 200 feet road at ambattur were relaid by GCC.
