If you have not been aware about where CMRL would be building the half underground and half on ground metro station in Chennai, then here is the answer for that!!.

In the northern part of Chennai, CMRL would be constructing an at grade metro station at Venugopal Nagar in Madhavaram. This would be a part of 118.9km phase -2 project. Linking Madhavaram to Sholinganallur, the Venugopal Nagar metro station is at corridor 5 belonging to metro phase-2 project. This was as per some officers in CMRL.

It is now said that in this station along the concourse or ticketing level would be built at the ground level and the platform would be built underground.

At the ground level, the commuter could enter the metro station, get his or her train ticket and then would have to go one level below by means of elevator or staircase etc to reach the platform from where he or she could board the metro trains.

Important piece of information is that all other metro stations in the phase-2 have been planned either as underground or as an elevated metro station except the one at the Venugopal Nagar metro station which would be half underground and half on ground.

It must be taken into note that the construction of this Venugopal metro station has been going on for the past few months and it would have 2 entry and 2 exit facilities. There would be ample space for parking available here. This was according to some officials from CMRL.
