For the past 75 years,. MIT or Madras Institute of Technology in Chromepet in Chennai has been producing many talented young engineers. Many of these engineers from MIT have reached top positions in their professions. In this famous MIT only, popular scientist and former President of India Mr. APJ. Abdul Kalam studied.
To mark the 75th year celebrations at MIT the TYN govt would allocate rs 50 crores to construct an indoor stadium with 1000 seat capacity inside the MIT campus. An amount of Rs 25 crores would be used to construct an experimental learning complex and a park also. This was mentioned by the CM of TN Mr. MK. Stalin during the 75th year celebrations yesterday. It is known that the present auditorium in MIT has a seating capacity of just 250.
The chief minister highlighted the importance of the contribution made by former student Mr. Rajam, an industrialist in the development of MIT in Chromepet. He spoke about how the TN students received education because of their heirs.
It is now revealed that the alumni and the institute would be holding conferences with international experts, exhibitions, open houses, hackathons etc. This would be as a part of the 75th year celebrations at the institute.
History of MIT :
It must be recalled that MIT in Chrompet was established by an industrialist Mr. CM. Rajam in the year 1949 after selling his property for Rs 5 lakhs. In the beginning stages, MIT offered applied sciences and technology courses like aeronautical engineering, electronics engineering, automobile engineering etc. These days, this educational institute also offers courses in plastics and rubber technology, production technology etc.
