Due to scheduled main water supply pipeline maintenance works, the drinking water supply in five zones in Chennai Metro City, including Royapuram and Anna Nagar, will be interrupted on the 5th of October.
In a notification issued by the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), it is stated:
"On behalf of the Chennai Metro Rail Company, maintenance work on the main water pipeline carrying water from the Kilpauk Water Purification Plant will be conducted on Purasawalkam High Road from 10:00 AM on the 4th of October until 10:00 AM the following day (5th October). Consequently, the drinking water supply will be temporarily suspended in five zones within Chennai Metro City until 10:00 AM on the 5th of October.
The affected zones are as follows:
1. Tondiarpet Zone - Perambur, Erukkancheri, Old Washermanpet
2. Royapuram Zone - George Town, Seven Wells Road, Muthiyalpettai, Wall Tax Road, Egmore, Park Town, Thambu Chetty Street, Kongu Reddy Road, Chintadripet, and Pudhuppettai
3. Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar Zone - Puliyanthoppu, Perambur Barracks Road
4. Anna Nagar Zone - E V R Road, Bronson Garden, Kellys, Purasawalkam, Kilpauk
5. Teynampet Zone: Triplicane, Royappettah, Ice House, Nungambakkam
We urge the public to take precautionary measures by storing an adequate supply of drinking water. In the event of an emergency requirement, please visit the CMWSSB website at https://cmwssb.tn.gov.in to register your request for water delivery via lorries.
Additionally, for areas without piped drinking water supply and those experiencing low water pressure, the standard procedure for distributing drinking water through lorries will continue without any disruption."
