Southern Railway partly cancels trains till 16th October

Southern Railway has announced that several long distance trains passing through Chennai Central are being diverted via a link line without touching Shoranur station till October 16 in connection with doubling work between Shoranur and Karakkad stations.
Train No. 16859 Chennai Egmore — Mangalore Central Express will be cancelled between Palakkad Jn. and Mangalore Central from October 2 to 15. Train No. 16860 Mangalore Central — Chennai Egmore Express will be cancelled between Mangalore Central and Palakkad Jn. from October 3 to 16. These trains will run between Palakkad Jn. and Chennai Egmore only during the above period.
The diverted trains include the Korba — Thiruvananthapuram bi-weekly Express, Indore-Thiruvananthapuram Ahalyanagari weekly Express and the Barauni — Eranakulam Jn. Raptisagar weekly Express. These trains would be provided extra stoppage at Wadakkancherry and Ottapalam.
