Metro Water, Tankers to go on strike from today but called off

Chennai Metro Water and the Metro Water Contract Lorry Owners Association reached an agreement over the new rates of contract on Thursday night. Because of  this water supply in the city will continue uninterrupted. 
 
This comes in the wake of 450 water tankers, that reportedly make 3,000 trips a day to the nook and cranny of the city, threatening to go off the road on Friday seeking new rates for tankers carrying 9,000 litres of water.
 
A senior Metro Water official said an agreement had been reached on Thursday night wherein the Metro Water agreed for Rs 420 for a tanker carrying 9,000 litres of water.
 
Earlier, Metro Water was paying less than Rs 400 for a tanker supplying 9,000 litres of water
