Established in the year 1854 in Chennai city, Taj Connemara is a 5 star hotel. It is also the oldest hotel in Chennai city and for many years this hotel has been attracting many visitors. This hotel got its name from Lord Connemara who was the governor of Madras in 1854. The latest news is this Taj Connemara hotel is operational once again. It must not be forgotten that for a period of one year this famous hotel in Chennai was under extensive renovation and redesign.

Visitors coming to this hotel would be amazed by the eclectic architectural influences of Classic Colonel, Art Deco. There are many distinctive elements from Geoffrey Bawa’s ‘Tropical Modernism’ style. According to Mr. Puneet Chhatwal who is the MD and CEO of the IHCL or Indian Hotels Company Limited, Taj Connemara would resume its place in the cultural heart of Chennai. He then spoke about the distinctive, modern and individualistic experience the patrons would get in this hotel.  It must be noted that the hotel has as many as 147 rooms and suites that are spread across the Tower and Heritage Wings. Hotels original features would be showcased by the sensitive preservation of Art Deco facade. There are wooden carvings got from 16th and 17th century Mahabalipuram temples and these wooden carvings would surely attract the attention of the visitors. The presence of 4.5 acres of landscape greens and enclosed atrium gardens is simply superb and it would make many guests happy.
