The Chennai Metro Transport Corporation has informed that 200 special buses are being operated to facilitate the post-Deepavali return journey of the passengers.

In this year (2019), 670630 passengers have travelled to their native places to celebrate the festival of Deepavali. Due to this huge passenger crowd, the bus stations were teeming with crowds on last Friday and Saturday (25th and 26th October).

With the festival of Deepavali having been celebrated, the people who visited their native places are returning to the Chennai Metro City. So, in order to reduce the waiting crowds of passengers and to facilitate them, the state government planned to operate additional buses.

Accordingly, 100 special buses have been operated since yesterday (Monday, 28th October) .  Especially, 8 buses were operated from the Madhavaram bus terminus. 23 special buses were operated from Tambaram MEPZ bus terminus. 27 special buses were operated from Poonamallee bus terminus. 34 special buses were operated from the Koyambedu outstation bus terminus. 8 buses were operated from KK Nagar bus terminus. This makes up for a total of 100 buses on a single day. This service is available for this one day today (29th October) only.
