Why are the passengers from Avadi in Chennai facing issues now?

As only 50% of the scheduled small MTC bus services are operating now, passengers from Avadi have been finding it difficult to go to places like Poonamallee, Mittanamalli and Thiruverkadu etc.
It is known that MTC operates S50 Avadi to Poonamallee, S47 Avadi to Mittanamalli and S52 Avadi to Thiruverkadu bus services with 4 small buses on each route. Truth is that just 2 buses have been in operation on each route now and the rest are present in the bus depot only. The employees of MTC lost their work due to this.
For the last 5 years, there has been a delay in the construction of road over bridge here and the normal bus services have been reduced. As a result, the passengers have been forced to depend on the small MTC buses only at Avadi. This was brought out by Mr. T. Sadagopan, an activist.
He threw light on how the MTC bus service S47 running between Avadi and Mittanamalli has got good patronage and how in this bus route many pregnant women travel and reach the health centres located at Mittanamalli. There has been huge demand for small buses here and it would be good if MTC operates more small buses for the public. It is now believed that many people would be benefited if MTC operates more buses in and around Avadi corporation.
As per a senior official from MTC that out of 207 small buses operating in Chennai city 146 buses including 56 buses operate as feeder buses to the metro stations in the city.
