Sudden price increase now by Aavin for ice creams - What happened?

The Aavin Company has increased the prices of 100 varieties of ice creams now. This is making sensational news now. Established in 1958, Aavin is a TN state government cooperative under TN Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. It must be noted that Aavin procures milk and processes it and then sells milk and milk products to its customers.

Aavin has been manufacturing and selling 100 types of ice creams to the customers across Tamil Nadu. In this scenario, Aavin has increased the prices of its ice creams. This has come into effect from 1st of this month.

The prices of 50 ml ice cream varieties like vanilla, mango, strawberry etc that were sold for Rs 10 have been increased to Rs 15 now. In the same way, ice cream types like chocolate, pista etc have been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 12 now. From Rs 25, the price of 65 ml chocobar has been increased to Rs 30 now. The price of choco feast has been increased from Rs 30 to R 40 now. From Rs 30 previously, the price of a 70 ml kulfi bar has been increased to Rs 40 now. The price of classic cones has been increased from Rs 35 to Rs 45 now.

From Rs 20, 100 ml vanilla, mango and strawberry varieties have been increased to Rs 25 now. The prices of chocolate, pistachio, almonds, butter scotch varieties have been increased from Rs 22 to R 30. From Rs 25, dry fruits have been increased to Rs 35 now. 125ml milk ice cream has been increased from Rs 30 to Rs 40 and cassata from Rs 45 to Rs 65.

From Rs 150, the price of 1000 ml ice creams like butterscotch, vanilla, mango varieties have been increased to Rs 200 now. Chocolate ice cream has been increased to Rs 250 from Rs 170. Ice creams like almonds, butterscotch have been increased from Rs 180 to Rs 250.

It was later mentioned by Mr. Ponnuswamy, president of TN Milk Agents Welfare Association that an increase in the prices of ice creams cannot be accepted at this time when there is no increase in the purchase price of milk.
